11/20-21: Hero and Villain Parts of the Brain
Today we presented our part of the brain, it's function, location, and our super hero or villain. You should have completed filling out your sheet. If some are missing, use your packet to figure it out. We also started applying what we know about the brain to identify what parts of the brain were damaged in patients suffering from brain damage. Finish this for Friday. |

11/19: Word Splash Connections and Hero and Villain Parts of the Brain
Today we started class by visually demonstrating the connection between several key vocabulary words (see powerpoint). Then, we wrote sentences that explain the connections between the words. The rest of class was spent working on our Super Hero/Villain Parts of the Brain project. They are due Wednesday or Thursday depending on which day you have block. If you were absent, make sure you get the handout. |

11/18: Introduction to the Brain
Today we read an article called The Teen Brain which talks about decision-making in teens and the development of the prefrontal cortex and the amygdala. We also learned about the requirements for the Hero/Villain Brain project and had some time to start working. The reading has been scanned and is here as well as the powerpoint. |

11/15: Hormones and AP Tutorial #1
Today we read an article about hormones and neuroregeneration in groups. We developed questions and then answered those questions as a group. |

11/13-14: The Nervous System
Today we learned about all of the components of the nervous system and how they are the communication centers for our body. The impact our movement, emotions, behaviors, thoughts, and even our heartbeat and breathing. |

11/8: Neuron Review and Quiz
Today groups made posters that highlighted the structure and function of the neuron and neurotransmitters. We finished with a 10-question multiple-choice quiz on the first section of the neuroscience unit. |

11/6-7: Neurotransmitters, Drugs, and Poisons
Today we looked at the 7 major important neurotransmitters to psychologists and the effect that drugs, alcohol, and poisons have on neurotransmitters, as well as diseases like Parkinson's and some mental health disorders. |

11/5: Neuron Structure and Communication
Today we learned about the structure of the neuron and how it communicates with other neurons. There are three main types of neurons, sensory, motor, and inter neurons. They are the messengers of the body. |
